Objective of the course

The lecture is to provide participants with knowledge about the nature of the integration processes taking place within the EEC / EU and the characteristics of rules and regularities governing these processes. The aim of classes is to analyze the functioning of the different areas of the European Union, the evaluation of the Community policies implementation and the effects of European integration ……..…

1. The concept and nature of international economic integration.

2. The genesis and stages of integration processes.

3. Legal and institutional system of the European Communities.

4. The functioning of the Single European Market and competition policy.

5. Principles and instruments of the common commercial policy.

6. Economic and monetary union.

7. The financial system and the budget of the European Communities.

8. Principles and tools of the common agricultural policy.

9. Evolution, meaning and instruments of regional policy.

10. Assumptions of environmental policy, social policy, transport policy (optional).………...

Learning outcomes

Student after completing the course should have an understanding of the nature of integration processes, practical knowledge of the institutional system and the processes occurring in the EU decision-making and discernment in the field of fundamental EU policies - objectives, principles, methods and directions of the evolution of these policies.

Student should be able to answer the following questions:

1. What is the European Union?
2. How and why it was created?

3. What stages of the european integration process can be distinguish?

4. What is the responsibility of the EU institutions?

Theory given by means of lectures devoted to the presentation of functioning of the EU principles and rules, classes conducted in the form of a discussion - a simulation of debate and negotiations on the EU policies on the basis of papers prepared by students

Continuous assessment of students based on their participation in discussions during the classes, evaluation of the presented papers and presentations

Written form of evaluation - students have to submit the paper on chosen topic (topics given in advance)
